Those McSkateparks from CO make yet another appearance in WY at the Brimmer Park in Cheyenne. We're pleased to report that just when we thought we were doomed to another state full of metal launch ramps and rusty fun boxes, we ran into Laramie. Straight creative goodness. They have a medium-sized park and it's hellza fun to ride. The metal-ramps-are-us guys should check out the flow-flow-flow at this place. Standout feature - a 15 x 5 x 3 ft "twinkie"... that's a great park.
^ Laramie, WY -
a sweet little
college town w/
an even sweeter park

Utah was kind of a surprise. The kids in NV were yapping about "Salt Lake - Salt Lake," so we decided to check it out. It turns out Salt Lake is a contender for the highest concentration of indoor parks in the country. There are at least 4 world-class indoor parks less than an hour from downtown Salt Lake. Add to the indoe' scene another handful of slick outdoor parks and UT turns out to be bursting w/ great riders.

great street course
and a sick little mini
tucked into a corner
of the park

Speaking of great indoor parks, Boise ID, has a park that is so new it barely has a scratch on it. We didn't have time to ride Lucky88, but we can attest to sweet ramps and smart planning, including a bunch of "beginner" areas to keep all the little grommits from standing around chatting it up in the middle of all the big stuff.

Skatepark in Boise, ID

Unfortunately, ID is also home to one of the worst executions of skatepark construction we've ever seen. We'll save that footage for another time, but for now try to imagine an otherwise perfect park built out of mash potatoes. It's still skateable [the tech stuff is okay], but the walls are ruined. It's a shame... great design butchered by the crew that was supposed to create it.

If you don't know what's going on in the Northwest right now, listen up. No McParks in Washington and Oregon. They've got it goin' on. For example, even though it's not the biggest park we've ever ridden, we've got to give it up for Gig Harbor. We love Gig Harbor. Good job. It's got tech, it's got big lines, and it's got more flow than the department of water and power. Bang!
^ Just outta Tacoma,
in a little town
called Gig Harbor,
is one kick ass park

We've already given you a glimpse of Oregon's idea of a good park. Newburg is the kind of park that makes you want to pack up your things and move to OR - it's perfect. We think that might be the biggest outdoor park on the West Coast, but Oregon has smaller versions of this kind of creativity and expert construction all over the state. Stay tuned for more Oregon pics from great parks in Albany, Roseburg, Talent, Medford, and Ashland.

Speaking of Medford and Ashland, there is a very interesting - and intense - skate culture in that part of the world. The parks are world-class and the riding is excellent, but the locals are a different breed as well. Here's a shot of one OR local we were lucky enough to meet.

Medford, OR, "What's
up, Dale!"

We should take a moment to thank everyone that helped us out and all the great riders we shot pictures of. Just like everyone who's taken the time to send in pictures and info to the site, these people did a lot to make this trip happen. Thanks to everyone for all the hot tips and great sessions. We hope the new footage will inspire more skating and help you track down your kind of park as you hit the road yourself.
