UPDATE: The worst of the Vans parks just gotta even more wack!

"I live in Bakersfield, CA and they finished remodeling the Vans skatepark. It has been reduced to about half its old size. Both of the big pools are gone and now it just plain sucks."

- Josh: Jan '02

Bakersfield... whew, it's a good thing Vans put a park in this town, 'cause you can only go to the mall so many days in a row before you go postal and set yourself on fire to protest extreme boredom.

This park, like all of the Vans' mega-parks is pretty big and it has at least a little bit of everything.

We're stoked on Vans' efforts to promote skateboarding with parks and the Triple Crown events. They've been quite busy since we first published pics of the Bakersfield park. They've remodeled Vans Block in Orange, CA, and it's better than ever. They opened Vans Ontario, CA - too many bikes, but not to bad. The Vans Milpitas, CA, park opened in May 2000 and it looks great. Finally, the Virginia park opened in 2000 as well, and we've heard some rumors about another expansion into Denver, CO and beyond... bring it on!!!

Directions: Vans Bakersfield is a little out of the way, but it isn't too hard to find. Take the 5 freeway north to the 99 freeway on your way to Bakersfield. Exit Rosedale Highway and look for the "Rockin' Rodeo Plaza" - no huge mall for this park. The exact address is 3737 Rosedale, and it's supposed to be right next to the DoubleTree Hotel. For more info call the park direct at 661-327-1794.
