We first heard of the Diamond Bar park from our friend Brenna. "Diamond bar city park is 10 times better than all of the rest of the Inland Empire city parks, without a doubt." We'd probably have to agree w/ that.

This is a Perkiss Rose [714.871.3638] park. They do a good job putting these things together - nothing incredible, but definitely solid. They've broken earth all over, from Washington's Kent park to the fine Skater's Point in Santa Barbara.

Locally, Perkiss Rose also built the parks in San Dimas and Claremont. Additional options close to Diamond Bar include concrete parks in La Verne and Glendora, with some pay parks like The Brickyard in Redlands and Vans in Ontario. If you like this style of park and find yourself up on the 101 near San Luis, check out Grover Beach.

One last thing you need to know about this park - PADS! We don't normally go out of our way to diss the cops, but the day we were at Diamond Bar a couple of bullying assholes w/ badges rolled up on mountain bikes like they wanted to pick a fight. Wannabe gangsters in tight little blue shorts and bullet proof vests tossin' out tickets and sportin' attitudes. Total pricks [probably ex-jocks] overcompensating for their tiny pistols, trying to intimidate a bunch of kids. They should be embarrassed, the f**kin' cowards - this is why the cops have such a bad rep. But as long as they've got the badges and 9mms, you should probably just suck it up and wear your pads.

Directions: Because this place is right between two freeways, it's hard to give good directions, but here goes: FROM THE SOUTH, take Highway 57 to Highway 60 east, and exit Diamond Bar Blvd heading south. From there, make a left [northeast] on Golden Springs Road and continue north-ish back under the 60, and then to right [east] on Sylvan Glen Road. There'll be a big park on the right and the skatepark is in that park at 24142 Sylvan Glen Road. FROM THE NORTH, take the 57 south to the Temple Ave exit. Head south down Temple and make a right onto Golden Springs Rd. Then make a left onto Sylvan Glen Road and you're there.
