Mammoth Lakes Skatepark

* Outdoor: 'Crete / Asphalt
* Free
* Trannie / Street
* Rating: Mammoth Lacks

The "free" skatepark in Mammoth Lakes is seriously booty. As in, it sucks. It's cool they gave it a shot and all, looks like it might have been a local effort. I sure as hell hope no "professionals" are claiming this piece of work.

"At 7,800 ft, you can ollie on the pyramid, grind a curb or a rail, wreck yourself on our ghetto-style Jersey barriers, and double quick kick flip to fakie on the quarter pipe at the Shady Rest Park. Wear all your safety gear, or risk a hefty fine."

- "Visit Mammoth"

Ha ha ha. Anyway, for some real skateables, check out the "pay" park at Wave Rave, back in town. It's not perfect, but it's got some interesting options, and anything it better than this place.

Directions: "Shady Rest Park is located at the end of Sawmill Cutoff, approximately 1/2 mile from Hwy. 203, near Shady Rest Campground." That Sawmill Cutoff is a couple miles away from the resort. As you head back toward 395, it would be on your left [north].

^ Ufff - the public ["free"] skatepark
in Mammoth is NOT pretty. That kid is
like 2 ft tall, and he looks like a giant
next to these jenky features.

^ If you see this
sign, you're getting
close to the park...
so you should probably
turn around and get the
hell outta there!!!

^ In an ironic, yet
comical example of
"art imitating life,"
the guys that built
this feature managed
to recreate a Jersey
barrier that is probably
more difficult to skate
than an actual Jersey
barrier. Awesome.

^ Here's the main attraction.
As long as you enjoy pushing,
no flow, and flat banks...
it's a dream come true.
