Santa Maria is kind of in the middle of nowhere... about an hour north of Santa Barbara and 4 hours south of San Francisco, if you're not traveling on California's 101 you'll never even be close to this place. But if you are, check it out.
It's close to the freeway, fairly easy to find, and offers up plenty of goodies for the locals and out-a-town goons that stop by. SK8parkLIST was there on a Sunday and discovered a small herd of grommits, doing their grommish things, and also a couple of full-grown rippers tearing the place apart.
The must-see feature of this park is the 7 ft "roller." It's backed up against a steep quarter and the combination of these two obstacles tempts you to try and hurt yourself. Very unique and tons of fun.
Overall, the park has something for everyone - grom or geezer - you'll be stoked.
Directions: Coming from Santa Barbara, head north on the 101. In Santa Maria exit Betteravia Road and turn left [west]. When you get to Skyway/Blosser Road turn left [south] onto Skyway, go about two miles and look for 3400 Skyway. It's a YMCA and shouldn't be hard to spot. For more information, call the park direct at 805.937.5833.
