Pep Boys
|
* Outdoor: 'Crete
* Free
* Vert / Trannie / Street
* Rating: Real southwestern flavor
One of two local parks, the Pep Boys park off of Cerillos is by far the more rockin' of the two [the other one is off the Plaza]. Built by the SDG [Site Design Group - 480.894.6797] in the year 2K, you know it can dish out a serious beating and keep you coming back for more.
To be honest, we're not sure what this park is called. SDG calls it "South Side" skatepark. Everyone we asked calls it the "skatepark by Pep Boys," so that's what we're callin' it. If you think you need to straighten us out on this one, fire away. Got pics? We'll take them too!
The park is "medium" sized, w/ a full range of features. There are lots of big wall opportunities w/ two open bowls and a double-chambered pool. You've got street features throughout and a killer kicker hit. No pads required. Lastly, the bikes issue is "under review." It's currently open to all but it may be boards and blades before long.
Ready to step it up a notch? Jump in your hoopty and head down to Albuquerque for some more SDG skatepark shenanigans. That place is unreal.
Directions: Coming from downtown Santa Fe take Cerillos Rd. [Hwy. 14] west to Camino Carlos Rey and turn left [south] - there is a Pep Boys on this corner. The skatepark is on the left in Franklin Miles Park.
