South Kingston

* Outdoor: 'Crete / Asphalt [yuck!]
* Free
* Trannie / Street
* Rating: Mass produced madness

It turns out the East Coast has "McRamps" too [Denver, CO is plagued by them]. South Kingston skatepark is one of several pre-fab concrete parks that round out the Rhode Island area.

The northeast *does* have plenty of good parks, most notably RI's own Skater's Island. However, the bulk of the RI parks are these "skatepark in a box" jobs, including this Sout Kingston, Bristol, Attleboro [in Mass - *PUKE!*], and the best McPark in the area - Newport, RI [on your way to "The Island"]. That happens to be a pretty complete list of parks in the RI area [that we know of], w/ the exception of Impact skatepark in Providence, RI [good park].

One last comment of note, is that this park is the local skating grounds of up-and-coming skater Nicholas Lord. This is his local park and he'll cruise down here and destroy this park at any given moment. Keep your eyes peeled... you might catch him in action!

Directions: All bullshit aside, our notes suck on this one. We tried asking a few friends of ours, but most people don't even know this park exists. We can tell you that the skatepark is in Old Mountain Park. We hate to do this to you, but just go to South Kingston and ask where Old Mountain Park is. There are tennis courts, etc. there, so even your average old person ought to be able to tell you how to get there. Once you get the directions dialed in, email us and we'll post. Good luck, you may need it...

^ Looks like Vietnam, but it's
just South Kingston in
the *summer* time!!!
[see the mini ramp in the upper
left corner...]

^ Funbox - check
out that jacked
rail/coping system!!!

^ Box #2 - that's a
'crete spine and then
a qtr behind it

^ The "cracks" in
these features [you
can't really see them
here, but they're there!]
are the result of pre-
building them and
gluing them down on
site... they don't
skate as bad they look
