* Rating: "Scott Stamnes Memorial"
"A group of Orcas Island WA residents have rallied together to build a world class skate park. Contributors include ski legend Warren Miller, Hobie Alter, Mike Brown, and the Tony Hawk Foundation."
"'This park is being built for that overlooked [skater!] who is not interested in playing organized sports because they are more interested in their pursuit of individual freedom,' Miller said."
" The park was designed and built by renowned skate construction firm Grindline [206.910.3402]. This will be the 23rd park for Grindline, famous for their work on Burnside in Portland OR, and a number of other Northwest skate parks. Paul Garwood, of Island Supply, was the contractor on the job and has lent his valuable expertise to keep the project on schedule."

"Here's some photos of Orcas Island. Keep in mind, the park was only 15,000 sf when these photos were taken - it's going to be twice as big when complete."
"Monk Hubbard [with Grindline] says it's the best ever, and he doubts he'll ever be able to top this one - final size will be about 30,000 sq ft."
"The park has hips and bowled corners all over, so it's carving nirvana - but it has multiple ledges and fun boxes, too. It's got an over-vert snake run, an 11ft deep bowl, a crazy extension/roll-in and more!"
